Theme music fades out
Farrah Khatib (0:33): Hi, I’m Farrah. I’m one of the producers of this podcast. Season One of “We Are the Ones Who Live Here” contains the work of 10 contributing writers, storytellers and journalists, 9 voice actors, and 17 people we interviewed about their lives. The five episodes of Season One are hosted by five women who live here.
This podcast is made of our voices, voices from all over this country, Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian, immigrant and refugee voices, new voices telling stories about life in our country, life beyond the headlines, beyond the cliches… They are voices that live here:
Jennifer Nasrallah (1:21): On one hand, there are not a lot of opportunities here. And on the other, hope is not found. We are creating hope day by day.
Rola Soboh (1:34): So my family has lived here for 67 years. I’ve lived here my entire life, and somehow I’m a refugee. We’re all refugees… even now? It doesn’t make any sense.
Fatima Rezaie (1:47): So if home is where I feel safe and I can be myself – where I, as a woman, can be and do what I want – then Lebanon is now my home.
Nour Al-Halabi (2:00): We want to find beauty, belonging and a sense of purpose in this troubled, strange and still beautiful country of ours. We want to live both in history and in hope… in reality, yes, but also in reverie…
Farrah Khatib (2:26): Please visit welebanonpod.com, follow us on Instagram at welebanonpod, and subscribe to “We Are the Ones We Live Here” on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Anghami, YouTube, Soundcloud and wherever you get your podcasts. We’ll release Episode One on the 3rd of May. Please join us…
